FINAL PROJECT

My good friend, Marshall Morgan, and I got together to record this song for my final project. It is called “Hear the Noise that Moves so Soft and Slow” by James Vincet McMorrow. Marshall played guitar and back-up vocals to make the song sound more full. Hope you all enjoy!

Throughout this class I have learned so much and I would like to give credit to my wonderful prof Alec Couros.

The beauty of this class is that I not only learned more about technology on the computer, but I let technology influence my artwork.

I began letting my creativity flow in Art 220 one day and my mind was producing pictures of old televisions with boxes floating outside of the frame. But I wanted to tell a story with my art. So through my visual linear perspective narrative, I wanted to show the process of technology.

This aspect was very important to me. That I was taking my growth of technology in ECMP355 and applying it to my other university classes.

Ultimately the effect of this class was amazing. The fact that it found a way to weave itself into my artwork is incredible. I will not always have a strong value for technology. Thank you Alec.

BIKE

Be

In

Knowledge with

Exercise/ Environment

Physical activity is one of the most important aspects of our life as humans. We need it to be physically healthy and without proper exercise people are not mentally healthy either. Though I am very involved in the arts community in the city, I am also a big into physical activity and helping the environment. I do not have a licence, but I have a bike.

Though I cannot really pick people up with my bike, I am still able to get myself from point A to point B, whether it be work, or school. Biking is very important not only for our bodies, but also for the environment. I don’t think enough people bike in this city. Look at Amsterdam, there are special lanes for bikes on every street.

Basically what I am trying to say, is that people need to stop depending on their cars engines, and experience the beauty of the environment around them. Hop on your bike and feel the sun shine upon your very skin without the window of your car blocking it.

I am very happy that we have developed an Earth Day on our calendar where students can bike or take the bus to school to try and help out the environment. But I don’t think one day a year is good enough. I truly believe that this needs to be stressed more in the school devisions to help get children more physically active, and help out our only planet.

Being a creative person, I decided to fool around with my new camera and capture some images from the night life around the city. Since it was Easter Sunday the city was completely dead at night and therefore I got to take my time fooling around with my camera. The aperture was at a high level meaning that the shutter stayed open to capture a lot of moving light at one time creating the effect that I wanted, to grab all the light I could get.

This project let me explore and experiment with an artistic form of technology, allowing me to find a new understanding in technology and art.

While I’m on my path in becoming a teacher, I need to learn and grow in new forms of life so that I can then allow my students to experience those new ideas as well. This project I did allowed me to explore the art of photography as well as experiment with the piece of technology.

As humans, we are constantly learning throughout life. And we should never stop that process.

Hopeful Artwork

Throughout my life in the past few weeks I have been dealing with some struggles, including with loss and love. But I find it inspirational and motivating by reading my horoscope. I am a Taurus, strong like bull, and I believe that by reading hopeful words every day one should be inspired to feel good about themselves and be filled with confidence. Every single person in this world will go through times of hardship, but it’s not about how low we may feel in those times of sadness, but how we deal with these emotions and let them make us stronger people in the future.

Visual art is a creative endeavour that I can truly express my emotions. Being inspired by the horoscope signs, I produced art using the zodiac animals for the visual picture, and horoscope sun signs for the textual aspect. I am born in the year of the Rooster, ’93, and my birthday is May 3rd making me a Taurus. I wanted to create something visually appealing, that when I looked at it, it gave me hope. Therefore also by using specific signs for a certain individual, it makes the art more personal, so the viewer can ultimately connect with the artwork.

After the process I felt fulfilled. I felt that, even in times of unstable emotions, I can create something beautiful. I value this exercise very important. I, being in the Arts Ed. program, believe that children need to understand that through hard times in life there are still beautiful things, and creativity is one of them. Whether it be visual art, dance, music, drama or literature, when individuals face difficult times in life they should always remember that they are a being of this world here to create and bring beauty to this world.

Here are the pieces I created, that when I look at now, I feel inspired.

This is my  group’s video! Hope you enjoy!

Here is my group’s evaluation. My group consisted of Jesse Miller, Chris Merk, Ben Sackville and myself.

I’ve always been inspired by the wonderful and talented Ingrid Michaelson. The first time I ever performed with my Ukulele was at my high school, Luther College, at our annual banquet. My good friend Zach Hansen played along with me and I sang. The song we performed was “You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson. I was planning on performing this for my final project, but now I have organized to perform a duet with my friend Marshall Morgan. But besides my plans for my Ukulele progress, I would like to show all of you my inspiration! So here is a video of the song I was inspired by to play the Uke! Hope you enjoy.
